What age range do you recommend  for you game?

We'd generally advise 16+. Many themes of horror do trend towards an adult rating

However it IS worth noting that while there's a little bit of blood in some images and some slightly nasty descriptions of things there isn't really anything extreme or adult in the books.

Additionally the focus of the horror is put in the players hands as it primarily comes from the characters chosen Haunts (which can be whatever) so it does actually scale to the players' interests/level of horror to some extent.

In terms of complexity we think the game is quite approachable but does ask for a level of engagement on the themes and concepts of the horror. What we've previously said is that Locus doesn't really need experience with rpgs but will benefit from experience with horror in some form (though kids horror would still be entirely appropriate for this).

tldr, you can do a kid friendly locus game but it requires a little more care around the themes and content of the story than an adult game might.

Thanks for asking!

Thank you for the information! ^-^

Might be my favorite horror game to be completely honest. As a Silent Hill Enjoyer, I adore the game's structure for the way it encourages players to be shitty but still protagonists, and GMs to be mysterious and scary in their storytelling.

I want to write a Locus setting / hack but racking my brain for mechanics to add or change turns up nothing, this game is basically perfect.

Thank you so much! We're so happy that you like the game!

It's funny because we had a similar revelation when writing the Sci-Fi guide (though we wouldn't use the word perfect to describe our game haha). We thught we'd add some new variations of mechanics but found we didn't really have anything we felt we needed to change, so the book ended up being a lot more lore and flavour twists instead!

We have seen some really cool stuff come out of people writing their own stories and locations

Do you have any guidance regarding running Locus online via a virtual tabletop like Roll20?

(+1)

We don't have any Guidance per-sey but there is a Locus module in Roll20 already! You should be able to select it from the dropdown of which game the campaign is for.

You'll have to add the card deck yourself (it's not part of Roll20 modules) but it has character sheets, item cards and automates the dice rolls. Unfortunately the Director will have to have their monsters in another format though as the limitations of Roll20's setup mean we couldn't include them.

Hope that helps and thanks for asking!

I really liked my first time playing this with a couple of friends. I would highly recommend this game with a few simple costumes (mine was a red scarf draped over my face & a hat to keep it tangled & folded as to look like a billowing veil), but its extremely fun I promise you will love it!

Locus is a mystery/horror RPG that uses both playing cards and dice. It is chock full of content; with a player guide that elegantly present the rules, and a director guide that explains in-depth how to set up the your own horror mystery.

Hello. Are there any more community copies available for "Locus"? I'd absolutely love to play it. ๐Ÿ˜Š

We add a copy whenever the game gets a 5 star review, so at the moment there aren't any more, but there will (hopefully) be more in the future!
I'll put a reminder out to folks that that's how it works on Twitter too fingers crossed!

Okie dokie!

In fact we're just about to add one right now! Thought we should let you know since you asked!

Yay! Thank you! I'll grab it right now. ๐Ÿ˜Š

Just a quick question: Is it possible to play this game solo? ๐Ÿ™‚

Unfortunately we haven't made a solo version of it no, currently it really needs 2 players at least.

Locus is an awesome game and I even wrote a thread on it! Check it out here!

This game is an easy 5 Stars!

Love it, backed it on the kickstarter and this doesn't disappoint.

I think actually a lot of prospective games devs should have a look at how the campaign was run, but also, at the quality of the content.

10/10 from me
